More on the Fair For Life label
"Fair for Fair for Life is a fair trade labeling program in agriculture, manufacturing and trade. It was created in 2006 by the Swiss Bio-Foundation in cooperation with the IMO Group, then taken over by the Ecocert Group in 2014 to respond to a specific request from organic farming stakeholders. Beyond the inherent concept of fair pricing, and from the very beginning of its creation, Fair for Life is aware of the notion of « responsible channels': having a long-term vision, engaging with sincerity and acting responsibly throughout the supply chain.
The label encourages a supply chain business model that aims for the resilience of each link. The Fair for Life certificate is a tool that allows the promotion and protection of exemplary sectors, where stakeholders have chosen to act responsibly, by implementing good economic, social and environmental practices. By following the framework defined by the Fair for Life label, producers, processors and brand owners can secure their sales and supplies, through tools such as long-term contracts that include fixed prices and volumes, and by establishing a genuine relationship between each other'

More about the wild green mate of Parana
Mate is still present natively in some preserved areas of Parana state, southern Brazil. It grows naturally in the shade of the forest. It is only harvested every 2 years, manually and from June to August, which gives it a higher level of phytonutrients than the cultivated mate. To ensure the preservation of the leaves, they are steamed for a few seconds, a smoother and healthier process than the old flame passage method. This preserves the taste characteristics of mate, its active ingredient content and its green appearance. The leaves are then dried then matured and finally packaged and controlled to obtain a top quality product, free of compounds harmful to health.
Our partner technically and financially supports several producer associations in the state of Paranà in Brazil, which exploit wild mate on their properties, far from areas of intensive agriculture, while preserving the surrounding Atlantic forest. This mate is produced by one of these associations bringing together around sixty families, who defend their way of life and the preservation of the local ecosystem, in the face of the advance of agribusiness.
This activity is essential for these small producers who live in harmony with the forest and harvest the mate of wild trees maintained on their properties.
